I am leaving on a tropical adventure on Monday, June 7th. I am sorry if I didn't mention this sooner on my blog, it's of kind been a little chaotic with school ending and Driver's Ed. coming out of my ears. It's a vacation with a twist. I will be working with about 20 teenagers and 4 other adults, yes I put myself in the adults category. Kind of weird, I'm an adult, it's little hard to believe sometimes that I have a job, health insurance, retirement, a car, and a few pieces of furniture to my name. Anyway back to the adventure. We are to construct a library and bus stops. I cannot remember the name of the city in Tonga. I am so excited that my first trip to leave the North American continent takes to me to a place where I can serve others and be close to the beach! I will post all the pictures and tales when I return at the end of the month! Wish me luck speaking Tongan!

THE END IS HERE!
So today was the last day of school technically, I still have to go in Friday, my b-day. Let's not get into the depth of humor that is. As with the end of every school year there are yearbook signings. I decided I had some free time so I would go and observe. Have you ever had a dream of working at Disneyland as a character? I have, since the day I discovered there were real people inside those costumes. Today my dream came true minus the costume, strangers, and the sweltering heat. I was sitting on a bench and student after student approached me asking me to sign their yearbook. Even those I had never had in class, just seen around. I felt bad looking at the names others had referred to them as, interesting they didn't seem to mind. Well, tomorrow I conquer turning 27.

Girls Say the Silliest Things
So you all know that I teach middle school girl's PE. So on Tuesday this past week while teaching aerobics to my second period class this cute 7th grader comes up to me and the conversation went like this:
student: "Miss Baccus, can I go to the bathroom?"
Me:"Is it an emergency?" (I ask this of all my students, it tends to weed out those trying to get of participating)
student: " Yes, I feel something flowing very unexpectedly?"
Me:"Yes, of course, do you need a pad?"
student: "Please, I thought it wouldn't be coming this soon!"
(sent to TA to retrieve pad from the equipment room)
Me: giggle, giggle, giggle
I love the girls I teach. Just the way she said it I couldn't not giggle. "The something flowing very unexpectedly"........Where do they get lines like that? She quickly returned to aerobics as if nothing had happened. I later explained to her that my friends and I call feminine hygiene products party favors and she had a good giggle herself.

Best Deal of the Year
So, teaching has many perks. For example, being asked the same silly question over and over again, busting students for wearing nose rings, hearing silly stories about who my girls have "crushes" on in the locker room, and my favorite the perks that save me money. I was recently given the calling to put together my ward's monthly newsletter. Which means I need a word processor I am comfortable using, Microsoft Office. I am no longer a PC user but, I so appreciate the software. To make a long story short I was able to get 2008 Microsoft Office for Mac for about $48. I know, WOW, that is the exact word I thought. It so good to have connections. Happy New Year to all!

Gone Dark!
So, as some of you may know at the beginning of October I colored my hair to like a shade darker than my natural color. Well, I decided I wanted to be darker. I love it! One of my drivers ed. students said I could be a vampire with my dark hair and pale complexion. We had a good laugh about that! Happy Thanksgiving!

New Project
This year for Christmas I thought I would use last Christmas' gift. No, I am not re-gifting! That is sooooooo not my style. I am going to sew my Christmas gifts. They are going be to amazingly fabulous and relaxing. I am so excited! The only snag in my plan is when am I going to have the time to sew.
I guess I thought the more I fell into a "groove", thanks Emperor Kuzco for letting me borrow, the more free time I would have. But, once again drivers ed. has returned to my life much sooner than I had expected. Then there's vacations, holidays, friends, and oh yeah my career enriching the minds of the future leaders of our fine nation. Gee, where does all my time go

Domestic Goddess'
Mel and I started making these aprons in June and we finally finished. I highly recommend Amy Butler's Domestic Goddess apron patterns. It was a great project to learn to sew on. Sewing is so much fun! I think we look fab!
